Commitment to Children

A docent is in the back with the back two children with their backs to us listening to them. There is a tree that has fallen down between the children and docent. There is a stream and bushes and leaves on the ground. It is fall the all the leaves have changed colors and on the ground.

We have a theme for this newsletter – building an enduring legacy. We believe that education is all about building and preserving the legacy, passion and commitment to our environment we want to teach our children.

What I’ve learned over my years working with schools, local organizations and community groups is we all want our children to know what a healthy ecosystem looks like and how they are connected to our natural environment. We want to equip them with knowledge and inspire them to love the environment as much as we do.

The KLF educational programming and focus of many of our grants is geared toward building that understanding from our youngest learners to our young-at-heart learners. Together, we share how we can be part of the environment, not as disrupter, but as an ally to the many critters, fish and birds that make our forests and waterways vibrant and healthy.

We are incredibly grateful to all our donors who allow us to offer educational programming and transportation awards to help schools bring students to the Preserve to learn about healthy ecosystems. You are part of our educational ecosystem that is inspiring the next generation of conservationists, forest health professionals and salmon recovery experts.

We’ve done a lot of work together in this space – let’s keep it going!
