Wenatchee Outdoors: This grant will help the Enchantments Stewardship Volunteer Program engages volunteers in preserving the Enchantments region of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Volunteers navigate 2,000 to 4,000 feet of elevation gain on 10–18 mile day hikes or overnight trips to pack out trash, bury human waste, dismantle unauthorized fire rings, and educate visitors on Leave No Trace, respect and safety of wildlife. In 2025, 40 volunteers removed 71 pounds of trash and engaged with 422 hikers despite challenges including wildfire and temporary closures. Grant funds will support hiring a seasonal coordinator, procuring tools and supplies for 2026, and providing volunteer t-shirts to sustain and grow the program.
