Shared Green Space

We are always happy to host groups and classes on the Preserve, and to share it with others that share our values.

A kid looking down at the river at a salmon. Can only see the kid's back. Wearing a grey vest with a blue beanie hat and a red shirt under the vest. The kid is squatting down next to the water with leaves under their feet.

The Tacoma Mountaineers use the Preserve for their backpacking course. It is one of their field trip destinations where they practice carrying packs up and down the trail, navigation, and other wilderness skills. They use both The Mountaineers Kitsap Cabin/Forest Theater property and the Preserve.

For the past couple of years, a local yoga group has hosted a special yoga event on the Preserve, giving participants a reflective walk with movement. The Preserve is the ideal location for combining yoga, meditation, and reflection in the outdoors. Also, the pavilion in Hidden Valley is a great place to hold a yoga class.

And that’s not all, the Preserve is an amazing outdoor classroom. Both Bremerton High School and Olympic College regularly bring classes to the Preserve for hands-on experience. In addition, Olympic College has continuing education learning events at the Preserve, one of which is on April 11th. And, of course, we share the space with our local community members and schools. When you set aside critical salmon habitat and old-growth forestlands, it’s always worth sharing with others.

If you have a group that would like to use the Preserve for a course or learning event, please be sure to check in with the Foundation first at info@ketalegacy.org. We’ll check our calendar and also make sure you and your group are informed of our rules to protect our trails, safeguard critical wildlife habitat, and protect the delicate salmon runs.

We greatly appreciate everyone’s love for the Preserve. It’s a special place that is open and welcoming to all.
