Sustainability

Our annual Fall For Fish event – Oct. 18th in Poulsbo – is something the Keta Legacy Foundation is proud of. We not only honor and celebrate those who are supporting our work on the Preserve, but all our board members and donors that are critical to fulfilling our mission to protect, preserve and restore the Salish Sea region.

Guests will be treated to a farm-to-table, locally sourced dinner served family style. In addition, there will be a silent auction. A perennial favorite auction item since the beginning of the event nearly a decade ago is the kayak trip for two. And that’s just the start! What you will find at our auction are experiences and items that are sustainable, local, upcycled, and/or reclaimed. Our goal is to live our value of ensuring we are part of the climate solution – less waste, more locally sourced products and more experiential items for our attendees to bid on.

you can see one kayak paddling and the front of a 2nd kayak. You see water with a bluff with trees on the left and mountains far off on the right.

Linda Anderson-Carnahan, who donates and leads the kayak trip, said the following about this auction item and why it matters to her: “The Keta Legacy Foundation’s Rhododendron Preserve is home to the headwaters of Chico Creek, which empties into Dyes Inlet of Puget Sound. As a long-time member of the Foundation Board, protecting the ecosystems that surround Puget Sound has been a priority for me. Since I moved to the region in 2000, I have been an avid kayaker, so it just made sense to offer kayaking trips for our annual Fall for Fish charity auctions. My friend Rick and I have taken many Foundation supporters on kayak trips over the years, sometimes even taking them on evening trips to enjoy the lightshow put on by Puget Sound’s bioluminescent algae. While these trips benefit the Foundation, I’ve also found it personally rewarding to share my love of Puget Sound with, and get to know, our supporters. I hope you will consider joining us at the annual Fall for Fish event and bidding on the kayaking trip for two. No previous kayaking experience is necessary as Rick and I will tailor the trip to your skill level and interests!”

It’s wonderful to have such loyal and thoughtful supporters of the work we do. As an all-volunteer board, nearly every dollar donated goes to our work. The silent auction opens at 5 p.m. and closes right before we sit down for dinner. We hope to see you there! Register online.
