We love having visitors at the Preserve. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy our beautiful part of the state. During the summer, visits increase, putting protection of the Preserve and the ongoing restoration of its waterways and landscapes top of mind. So, here are some friendly reminders when you visit:
- The creeks are critical salmon runs. Please do not walk through, swim or stomp in them. We have a lovely new bridge to help ensure you can get around without disturbing the creeks.
- Please leave your dogs at home. While we love our furry friends, even the best-behaved dogs can disrupt the animals that make the Preserve home.
- Do not disturb or pick flora or fauna. Leave the berries on the vine and mushrooms in the soil. All these plants are part of the healthy cycle of life on the Preserve.
- Enjoy Big Tree, but do not pick the bark or attempt to climb it. Damage to the bark can create areas that allow disease and pests to erode the health of the tree.
- Leave no trace. If you pack in your lunch, please pack out all your packaging. Plastics and other trash can be deadly for wildlife and negatively impact the creeks.
- Please, be mindful of new plantings in Hidden Valley. These baby plants are marked with flags.
We hope these tips help you enjoy your time on the Preserve while helping us maintain a healthy and thriving ecosystem. We hope you enjoy your time there as much as we do. More information on visiting the Preserve is available on our website.
