You Made Fall For Fish a Success

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended this year’s Fall For Fish “fun-raisier” on October 18th! This year we focused on celebrating the Rhododendron Preserve and we could not have asked for a better group to celebrate another year of milestones for the Foundation. The funds we raised will go a long way to continue our work to improve the visitor experience, support our scientific monitoring, and keep the restoration work of the forestlands and waterways going on the Preserve.

Here are the outcomes of the Fall For Fish event:

  • Entertained 59 guests at Island Lake Cabin
  • 58 tickets sold = $7,250
  • 24 auction items raised = $2,835
  • Table ask raised = $4,115
  • For a total of $14,200 raised before expenses

We will use this year’s funds to purchase soil-monitoring equipment and pay our interns that document and analyze the environmental health of the Preserve. We’ll also continue to improve the pavilion space and trail safety for field trips, visitors and educational seminars.

At Fall For Fish, we learned about the restoration of the Rose Point Estuary and how that difficult project is now a model for scientists working alongside property owners and the community to collaborate on efforts that grow and protect critical salmon spawning habitat. It was exciting to learn about other restoration efforts in our community!

Nancy Neyenhouse, a long-time board member and Community Grants chair, was presented with the annual Chico Champion award. She helped us shape and grow our grants program and served as a steady leader as we navigated opportunities and challenges over the years. Her commitment to the Foundation and her support of our ongoing work to enhance the ecosystems of the Salish Sea region are truly appreciated.

You made Fall For Fish a success and we hope you will take a walk through the Preserve to see for yourself how your investment has made an impact on our mission to preserve the delicate ecosystem that makes up the Preserve. We hope to see you and your friends at next year’s Fall For Fish!
