Rain or shine – well, mostly rain this time of year – we will begin our planting season shortly. We continue to remove invasive plants and debris left behind years ago before the land came under the stewardship of the Foundation. As such, we engage with volunteers, like many of you who receive our newsletter, to plant native trees and plants.
One element we take into account when choosing plants and trees is climate change. We now have more extreme temperatures, creating a more complex calculation on what we plant. We work hard to plan for a sustainable future for the lands and waterways in Hidden Valley.
The Preserve is a special place with the largest old growth forest in the area, the healthiest salmon runs in Western Washington and a rich history that we enjoy sharing with everyone.
We would love to have you, your group, friends and neighbors join us for a day to help us replant and build community while we do it.
