The Preserve is wonderful year-round, but this time of year when we experience warmer temperatures, it is also a great place to cool off. Take a walk on Big Tree Trail and take in the shade and all the new plants and trees. While the water in the creeks is nice and cool, we ask that you do not wade, jump or dig in the creeks. As you know, we have one of the healthiest salmon runs in Western Washington and that is due to our work to restore the creek banks and plants that keep the sediment out of the waterways. Please do your part to help us maintain this wonderful habitat by staying on the trail and out of the water.
We know you’ll enjoy seeing all the improvements we’ve done and the work underway. We have ordered picnic table kits that should arrive around mid-September that we will assemble and have onsite for use for field trips, educational visits and events. Oh, and check out the pavilion when you are at the Preserve. It’s still a new feature that we use for field trips and other events.
We hope the Preserve serves as a respite during these hot days and that you take some time in nature even as we are all busy enjoying the end of summer. The outdoors is for all of us, and we hope you’ll spend a little time visiting our wonderful Preserve.
